While working as an in-house producer at Oberton Music, Raffi collaborated with lead composer Miqayel Voskanyan on the soundtracks for 250 km and Song of the Flying Leaves, both of which earned recognition at international film festivals. He also volunteered at Bars Media as a mixing engineer’s assistant, contributing to the critically acclaimed Aurora’s Sunrise.
Sounds of Life
Sounds of Life is the philosophy that underpins Raffi's work. It’s grounded in the belief that music is one of the most powerful ways to break down cultural barriers, shaping a portfolio rich in diverse styles and influences.
Part of the portfolio is an ongoing series that he posts on social media, which involves taking everyday sounds and turning them into catchy songs. Examples include "Sounds of Renovation", "Sounds of Coffee" and "Sounds of Darius" (an Instagram celebrity) which recently amassed over 1 million views.
Gyumri State Orchestra of Folk Instruments
In 2021, Raffi volunteered with the Gyumri State Orchestra of Folk Instruments in Armenia as a music copyist, digitising handwritten scores of Armenian folk music for live performance. His time there culminated in the opportunity to arrange and record one of his own pieces, Aden’s Dance, conducted by Karen Mayilyan.
The original demo was written solely for the classical guitar, but it was later adapted to be played by over 20 Armenian folk instrumentalists, including the qanun, dhol, and duduk.
Karizma x La Bande a Tyrex
Raffi leads the musical collective Karizma, alongside vocalist Sara Poghosyan and percussionist Raphael Derderyan. Together, they blend Raffi’s compositions with traditional Armenian folk singing.
in 2022 Karizma collaborated with "La Bande à Tyrex", a dynamic French acro-cycling music troupe, on a series of performances across Armenia, which were featured in a documentary by Pierre Barbier (below).
